Academy Athletes Set to Compete in This Week’s AJGA Preview at Bethpage

This week marks the start of the AJGA Preview at Bethpage in Farmingdale, New York and two GPA students are competing in the tournament. Emilee Ferguson, from Sandy Hook, CT, and Maya Palanza Gaudin, from East Falmouth, MA, are in the field for the girl’s division. They will be competing amongst 22 other girls over the course of two days of play.

The Preview will begin with a practice round on May 3rd, with the actual tournament spanning from the 4th to the 5th. Boys and girls from the ages of 12-19 will compete in a field of a total of 76 young golfers, 52 in the boy’s division and 24 in the girl’s. 

GPA also boasts the 2023 girl’s division champion at the AJGA Preview. Arabella Lopez took home the win after shooting an even par total over the two days of play, this first day shooting a 74, the second, a 68, to end with a 172 final score. 

Best of luck to Emilee and Maya as they take on the Preview this week. GPA will be sure to keep an eye out for them and cheer them on!
