Cristina Alvarez Captures 38th South American Junior Championship

The Golf Performance Academy proudly congratulates Florida Academy student Cristina Alvarez on her outstanding victory at the 38th South American Junior Championship in Lima, Peru.

This prestigious event brought together 60, hand-selected, elite junior players from 10 competing countries: Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Uruguay. Each nation fielded a team of three boys and three girls to compete for both individual and team crowns.

Alvarez posted a four-round total of 296 (72-78-74-72) which earned her the individual title by four shots. Cristina’s performance was highlighted by a hole-in-one on hole #5 (a 7-iron from 148 yards) of the final round, which proved to be a pivotal moment in sealing the victory individually and the gold medal for Team Colombia. 

Alvarez’s victory adds to the legacy of success cultivated at The Golf Performance Academy, where she trains as part of the Port St. Lucie, Florida campus. She now joins an impressive group of South American Junior champions coached by Manuel Bermudez
